Writing for Others
0.1 With Writing, Money != Value
The best investment you can make is in yourself, but the only check you can cash comes from helping others.
Crafting ideas into something helpful to others, or even just plain entertaining? That’s good for everyone.
The moment you compromise that premise by using AI with the intention of “fooling” others into thinking the post is somehow more valuable than it is?
The only person you’re fooling is yourself.
Am I arguing against using AI for editing? No.
Idea generation? No.
Preliminary research? No.
What I’m arguing against is the intention: you’re trying to make a buck off people’s inability to discern real from fake when talking about what you believe and why.
You’re no longer focused on adding value, you’re focused on the appearance of value.
The public-facing signal in this transgression is doubly negative. It says: “I’m a commodity with premium pricing, and I think you can’t tell the difference.”
